Why "Stick Figure Stories"?
The stick figure is the most widely relatable symbol of a person. My stories often shy away from specific descriptions in a deliberate attempt to engage the reader's imagination.
As an indie publisher, I thought that "Stick Figure Stories" was a good description of what I create.
It's also because of how my imagination works. I have a certain level of aphantasia, meaning that I don't tend to imagine my characters' appearance in any detail. Instead of seeing them before me, acting out a scene, I imagine being in the scene. I can feel how Nesh walks, I know Kerrig's anger, Maddie's confusion, and Volnar's impatience. But I don't know what their faces look like.
The landscape they walk through is based on various country walks I've taken, but not any particular place. I hope that you can map my characters and their surroundings onto your own experience.
